What Is My Spiritual Gift? Quiz

How the quiz works

You answer 13 everyday scenarios โ€” a friend calling at 11pm, a group project falling apart, a free Saturday. Each answer adds points to one of eight spiritual gifts, and the highest total becomes your result. It takes about three minutes and needs no sign-up.

The classic instruction still applies: answer according to who you are, not who you would like to be. Romans 12:3 calls this sober judgment. If you pick the answer that sounds most spiritual instead of the one that sounds most like your last month, the result will describe a stranger.

There are no trick questions and no wrong answers. Each of the four options in a question belongs to a different gift, so you are never choosing between good and bad โ€” only between four genuine ways of showing up for people. If two options feel equally true, pick the one you actually did most recently rather than the one you admire most.

What each result means

Every result comes with its Bible passage, what the gift looks like on a normal Tuesday, what it gets confused with, and its shadow side โ€” all on the result itself, not on a separate definitions page.

Result Passage Looks like on a Tuesday
Teaching ๐Ÿ“– Romans 12:7 Rewriting an explanation until it finally lands
Mercy ๐Ÿ•Š๏ธ Romans 12:8 Sitting with someone in the hard hour
Leadership ๐Ÿงญ Romans 12:8 Turning a vague idea into who-does-what
Serving ๐Ÿงฐ Romans 12:7 Doing the task nobody assigned
Giving ๐ŸŽ Romans 12:8 Quietly covering a need before it’s announced
Evangelism ๐ŸŒ Ephesians 4:11 Small talk that turns into a real conversation
Exhortation ๐Ÿ“ฃ Romans 12:8 The text that gets someone moving again
Discernment ๐Ÿ” 1 Corinthians 12:10 Noticing something is off before you can say why

Is it accurate?

It is a self-report quiz, not revelation โ€” it can only reflect what you told it about yourself, and a bad week can tilt the answers. Treat the result as a strong first hypothesis, then confirm it two ways: ask two or three people who have watched you serve whether it fits, and actually try a role that uses the gift for a season. Fruit confirms faster than any questionnaire.

Two honest limits worth naming. First, Scripture never gives one exhaustive list; Romans 12, 1 Corinthians 12 and Ephesians 4 overlap but don’t match, which is why different churches and different assessments count different numbers of gifts. Second, several gifts โ€” Healing, Miracles, Tongues and Interpretation โ€” aren’t things a questionnaire can measure, which is why most gift assessments leave them out. Most people also carry more than one gift, so a strong second place is real information, not a runner-up.

How seriously should you take this?

This quiz is built for fun and self-reflection, not for professional assessment. It is not a diagnosis and can't replace advice from a qualified doctor, therapist, or counsellor. Results are based on the answers you pick in the moment โ€” pick different answers and you'll get a different outcome. Frequently asked questions

What is a spiritual gift?

A spiritual gift is an ability the Holy Spirit gives to a believer for the good of the whole church, not just for personal benefit. Romans 12, 1 Corinthians 12 and Ephesians 4 are the three passages that list them.

What's the difference between a talent and a spiritual gift?

A talent is a natural ability you're born with โ€” pitch, speed, a head for numbers. A spiritual gift is described as given by the Spirit at conversion and aimed at building up the church. In practice they often overlap and reinforce each other.

How many spiritual gifts do I have?

Scripture indicates every believer has at least one. Most people who take a gifts assessment show a cluster of two or three strong gifts rather than a single spike, so pay attention to your second and third results too.

Why doesn't this quiz test for Tongues, Healing or Miracles?

Because no questionnaire can measure them honestly. Those gifts tend to be self-evident when present โ€” they show up in events, not in how you'd rate a statement about yourself, which is why most gift assessments leave them out.

Can my spiritual gift change over time?

Your core gifting tends to stay recognisable, but which gift is most visible shifts with your season, your church and your responsibilities. Retaking the quiz after a few years often reorders your top three rather than replacing them.
